LEADERSHIP

WillThomas_PastorReverend William E. Thomas Jr., is an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He strongly believes in church ministries that edify and build believers. Additionally, he believes that the community is one of the keys to establishing and developing vibrant ministries. Currently, he serves as the Pastor at New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Lithonia, GA. He has pastored several other congregations including Greater Gaines Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Savannah, GA. Belvin African Methodist Episcopal Church in Marshallville, GA, Saint Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church in Thomasville, Georgia, Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Midville, GA, Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Summertown, GA. Reverend Thomas served as an assistant pastor at Big Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Atlanta, GA and a youth pastor at Mount Hermon African Methodist Episcopal Church in Miami Gardens, FL, Antioch African Methodist Episcopal Church in Stone Mountain, GA, and Greater Payne African Methodist Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, FL.

Reverend Thomas has been at the forefront in community activities involvement. Since oneness and cohesion in the community is one of his pursuits. He served as active member of Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance in Savannah and Emancipation Proclamation Association. He served on the board for Hodge Memorial Daycare and St. Joseph’s/ Candler African American Center. His educational background and experience as a pastor over the years has built a passion for the gospel and offering service to the community in which the church serves.

Reverend Thomas has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Mass Communication from Edward Water College, Masters of Divinity from Turner Theological Seminary at the International Theological Center, and has recently received a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.

Reverend Thomas is married to Reverend Angela Thomas, who serves his partner in ministry and he is a father to William “Trey” Thomas, III.
